It was a balmy summers day when three grad students -- Ben Panter, Kelly Vignola, and Margaret Hine -- were enjoying their lunch in the shade. Freshly back from their bonding experience in Ireland, as part of their MFA program, the three artists decided to form an art alliance. They wanted to support not only each other's art careers but other young emerging artists as well. With grand ideas of collaborative projects and publications, the tres amigos made a pack to become the leaders of an art collective now known as SNOWMAN EXPLOSION!
But where did they get the name you ask? Well early on, the group had formed a secret(or not so secret) hand-shake: Three fists stacked from biggest to smallest, which would then "explode" with the opening of their hands. It didn't take much to realize that the stacked fists resembled a snowman. Thus SNOWMAN EXPLOSION was born.
